Moving my blogging/ranting stuff to Blogger
Alright, so I was posting my silly nonsense on Medium for a bit
The issue with Medium is it got kind of hard to write for... as that whole subscription stuff had me worried that people wouldn't be able to see my posts without paying for a website that largely isn't worth the subscription
The vast majority of what is available on Medium is scams, selling shovels during gold rush, bad psychology (like stuff that makes TikTok Therapy Talk seem an improvement), people justifying MLMs, corporate bootlicking... and well... the sort of stuff you can see on LinkedIn for free. The sort of stuff you can see on LinkedIn that lets you know not to bother using LinkedIn
Now, I then moved to trying out SubStack. You know, like most people did, when it became obvious that there was no justification to paying for a subscription to Medium--and that would make it so your posts were invisible to everybody except those with more cents than sense
The issue is... SubStack doesn't really have much for tools for WRITING posts. The sign up process goes on and on about how you can make a butt load of money. Just all the money--and the sign up is largely about getting you set up to rake in the money that it claims will be coming your way. With most of that website being around selling its writers a shovel
Which would be fine if the shovel could actually dig into the dirt effectively. So many features on that shovel are designed for monitising whatever might come out of the dirt, that there does not seem to be room in the design for the shovel to break into the earth itself
I tried to figure out how to, actually you know, write posts... but it seems like that functionality was not present. Nor was there documentation only actually making posts. Lots of stuff on how to make money from SubStack posts... but actually being able to write out a post... nothing
It also doesn't help that the software did not like the method I found of writing more than a headline, involve me making a bullet list region on the page, and then just having each paragraph be either a numbered list entry or a bullet list entry.
As I would type out a quick paragraph, go off to make a cup of tea, return, and could finish the entire pot of tea before it would echo onto the screen the words I wrote
So... now I am here
This is the first blog post. It sucks, because first posts always suck
