A Wonderous Description of a BS Setting

 So, it seems that people are underselling a lot of stuff that happens in their life. That the whole "be grateful for what you have" kind of doesn't work, as everybody feels like they don't really have anything. This mindset has also moved into Science Fiction and Fantasy writing

So, this creative writing exercise is mostly to try to get that sense of wonder back for people

A Short About a BS Setting

 

 In most people's hands they hold a wretched accursed device. They say this device did not need to be used for insidious means, it was Dark Masters of Ruinous Numerology that commission the devices that turned it--the device itself is not to blame they claim

The housing of the device was crafted by harvesting the Ichor from the corpse of a fallen giant. A giant slime that spanned the entire world, that has long since passed away, and was buried. The remnants of the ancient slime titan was generally viewed  as a hazard that interfered with village farmers working the fields. As occasionally a field would be found to have been tainted by the remnants of this ancient unknowable slime that once covered the entire planet

One  scholar in the studies of alchemical fields found that the remaining world ichor of the long forgotten world spanning slime held similar properties as a material that required great fleets of ships to hunt aquatic behemoths. The Aquatic Behemoths were dwindling in numbers, and were the only thing that kept at bay the giant beasts with many tentacles in the depths of the oceans. Not that the people knew much about the giant many tentacled beasts that the aquatic behemoths were keeping at bay

Since the discovery of this alchemical scholar, usage of the ancient slime corpse' ichor was used to construct many structures, fetishes and tools

Various people skilled in applying alchemical studies into botanical interests worked to have the crops that the village farmers grew to be changed via their alchemical powers. To artificially recreate a counterfeit variation of the ancient world spanning slime corpse ichor. This allowed for more of the results came from desecrating this ancient unknowable entity, with less burrowing intricate catacombs into the stone

The catacombs only existed for constructs of metallurgy and geometry to garner this material that became the most required element of all the realms that engaged with the arts of making stuff with the remnants of the world titan slime. Its oozing continued for millions of years, only stopped via the machinations of alchemical scholars

The portions of the world titan slime became harder to find, that the scholars of the realm worked hard to engage in geomancy to locate parts of the world titan slime corpse not already unhoused by the metallurgy constructs catacomb creation 

The crops of the villager farmers were further twisted, already being highly based upon seeds stolen from people in a far away realm entire ravaged and burned to the ground by invaders. Some might have survived the razing of this far away realm--but they are dwarfed by what is reaped and sowed via seeds pilfered from their dead ancestors

The results of those seeds having been further twisted and melted via botanical application of alchemy, so that the results of this crop are not edible by mankind. The results exist only to create a manufactured imitation of the corpse of the world titan slime

This is the material that gives the casing of the accursed black slab's construction

Inside the case is several arrays of crystals. Working in conjunction with well timed sands arranged in extremely intricate geometrical patterns. These intricate geometrical patterns of the well timed sands are used in conjunction with a myriad of alchemical processes and the outcome of yet even more alchemical processes 

The accursed black rectangle slab holds a sheen nearly reflective surface on one side. Until it is activated via a process of human forged counterfeit lightning. The manufactured counterfeit lightning is manipulated via the alchemical created components and well timed sands in intricate geometrical patterns, to engage with the alchemical machinations inside the housing forged from the ancient world titan slime's corpse. The well timed sands in intricate geometrical patterns, alchemical products and alchemical products then activate the crystal arrays, allowing the holder to engage in a very managed measured scrying process 

How can one have a managed controlled scrying process? Who would be controlling how the scrying is being done? Is there limitations of the scrying process?

The wretched black slab is not operating on its own when its sheen is no longer a reflective surface

The wretched black slab will interact with other crystal aligned constructs attached to sand in intricate geometric patterns via two main channels

The lesser known way, not as well known to the denizens of the realms is via metal rods that are laid into the bottom of the great oceans that seperate some of the realms from each other. The same great oceans that house the aquatic behemoths once hunted for a material replaced via desecration of the titan world slime's corpse of all its ichor. As well as the tentacled beasts that those aquatic behemoths have kept from wretching their havock onto the people of the realm

Via these great metallic rods, whose very scale has them no longer seeming rigid or sturdy venture deep into the unknowable depths of the waters of the oceans. Creating a metal spider web surrounding and bundling the planet. All in service of the wretched black slabs the people of the realms carry upon them

The most well known way, though it is less used, involves sending vibrational harmonics into the heavens themselves. The vibrational harmonics then strike into man made constructs covered in special runes, with the nature of those runes encoded into the very behaviour of these constructs. This man made rune encoded construct placed beyond the conceivable reach of any man will decide whether to send the vibrational harmonics to another rune encoded construct, or back down from the Heavens themselves

The rune encoded constructs are a special case. For if it was not for an impossible water filling their veins, they would burst into a fire from their very hubris. However, this hubris is saved via yet another. For humans discovered a fog that affects communication, and turns all exposed to it into fools. Humans affected by this vapourous mist can be known by their shrill high pitch voices

Alchemical Scholars, working outside what would be typically understood as a natural order of things have turned into a water this fog that blocks communication and turns all enveloped into is amorphous embrace into shrill high pitch foolish sounding sorts

This improbable water crafted from this fog is used to filled the veins of the rune encoded constructs that the humans of the realms most in use of the accursed black slabs have put their forelines of their encroachment into the heavens themselves. Viewing a full on invasion and conquering of the heavens as a pure inevitable outcome of their actions 

The improbably water from the fool making fog cannot exist in the same world as humans. For it to exist, humans cannot. The Alchemical Scholars, however,  found ways to partition off areas of the world to specifically work with creating this pristine water from the shrill fog

It is due to the pristine water of the shrill fog's belligerence towards the existence of people for any place it can exist, that it is able to be used in the rune encoded constructs that mark the encroaching invasion of the heavens. It is how those rune encoded constructs deny turning to flame from hubris--further hubris

Yet, none of the people of the realm view any of this as relevant towards to dark places this accursed black slab puts their soul into. Not the metal rods going into the dark unknowable water depths with creatures incompatible with comprehension creating a spider web net ensnaring the globe. Not the usage of the remnants of the world titan slime's ichorous corpse. Not the manufactured lightning being directed via geometries of sand. Not the invasion of the heavens with rune encoded constructs who only do not turn to flames from hubris due to an impossible pristine water of the shrill fog created by alchemical scholar's commissioned workers 

 No, it is the masters of Numerology with their unnaturally coloured skin--coloured to hide how ashen and pale the skin actually is from the public. These masters of Numerology are not rulers of the realms. They instead have convinced the rulers that their mastery of Numerology has the realm's treasuries to be put under their handling and guard

 They have convinced the people of the realm--to varying amounts--that the pursuit of being a devout follower of their particular inevitably ruinous school of Numerology is the path towards greatness. That any god or goddess that defies their Numerology is to be stripped of rank and privilege. Only allowing to operate in the realms deities that proclaim their own specific family of Numerology Schools as the way to greatness

Masters of Numerology, Geomancy, Geometries and Runes have worked out that this school of Numerology is one made of hubris. That it is a false school of Numerology, that props itself as the only true school to get to enlightenment. The Masters of this Ruinous Numerology have worked to bind the eyes and ears of the people of the realms to not consider these people questioning them. To never hear these questions--while also know the ones questioning them are infidels to the realms where people carry the accursed black slab with them

In order to garner and hold more power--they guide the scrying visions of the accursed black slab. The visions are that of the darkest parts of the world. The hubris of fellow people in their realm. The when people are at their lowest and most inclined to submit to temptations. Those whose souls have been damaged. Those who do not believe in benevolence, temperance or redemption. To very limited portions of the lives of others, that cover more information than is concealed during the act of evesdroping 

Hearsay is treated as gospel. Fear is treated as the people's lodestone. Neighbours as disposable nuisances 

It is the masters of numerology's insistence of working the visions of scrying from the accursed black slab in this direction. Under their ambitions to not merely maintain their own powers granted via numerology--but to grant them ever more numerology induced powers 

The masters of numerology work to add more machination catacombs in the hunt down of the world slime titan's corpse to desecrate it for more ichor. An act that has been destroying the planet

The desecration of the world slime titan's corpse has put a dark corruption of the air of the entire world. Not just the realms of people carrying the accursed black slab. The dark corruption of the air as a result of the world slime titan's corpses desecration, is a process that risks having the entire world burst into flames for its hubris

Now, some of you might point to the impossibly pristine water from the fog of shrillness mentioned earlier. If it can be used to keep the rune encoded constructs that mark the encroaching invasion of heavens--decried inevitable by the dark masters of ruinous numerology, why not use it to cool the Earth

The issue is the process of creating the impossibly pristine water from the fog of shrillness heavily makes use of materials garnered from the desecration of the world slime titan's corpse. By shielding those rune encoded constructs from the results of their hubris--we only speed up at which the dark corruption of the air that desecrating the world slime titan's corpse causes

All in favour of The Masters of Numerology being able to claim more power garnered from their Numerologies
